As a visual designer for the Wellness Promotion Department at Northern Illinois University, I was tasked with creating visually compelling campaigns to promote health and wellness among college students. One of the most challenging projects was to discourage students from heavily drinking through campus-wide posters.
Collaborating with the Wellness Promotion team, I developed a range of web and print campaigns that showcased the importance of student and faculty well-being. I created eye-catching posters, newspaper advertisements, and handout materials that effectively communicated complex health data in a visually interesting way. I also adhered to NIU brand standards while creating distinct campaign visual identities, tailored to the target audience.
My family-friendly visuals for topics such as alcohol usage, sexual health, and bystander intervention led to increased attendance at campus events and compliance with mandatory health-related trainings. The campaigns were well-received by students and faculty, with many commenting on the engaging and informative designs. As a result of our successful collaboration, the Wellness Promotion Department was prioritized to Health Services and given greater opportunities to help students and staff.
